30 Days of Gratitude

I have been thinking a lot about the old version of me. The one who was hurting and trying to outrun feelings she did not know how to process. The one who felt everything too deeply and had no idea what to do with any of it. The one who thought survival was the same thing as living.

She made choices that broke her own heart, and sometimes the hearts of people she cared about. She walked around carrying shame like it was part of her identity. She believed she was the problem long before she ever understood she was actually the one trying to find a way out.

But here is the truth that healing finally handed me.
She was never the problem.
She was the beginning of everything I am today.

She is the one who taught me resilience.
She is the one who kept searching for a better way.
She is the one who whispered, “The life we want is out there and I just need to start building it,” even when she felt like she was drowning in shame and fear. She had no roadmap, no confidence, no clarity. She just had a tiny spark inside of her that refused to go out.

That old version of me was not weak. She was doing everything she could to survive a life that felt too heavy. She tried things that did not work. She stumbled through choices that hurt. She hid from her truth because she thought that was the safest option. And even with all of that, she still kept going.

Every step she took, even the messy ones, brought me closer to the person I am now.
Every wrong turn taught me something.
Every small act of courage shifted something inside me.
Every moment I thought was a failure was actually a brick in the foundation of my recovery.

Today, I am grateful for her.
For her curiosity.
For her bravery.
For the way she kept getting back up when she could have given up.
For the way she held on, even when she did not think she deserved a future.

If you are still in your “old me” chapter, please hear this.
Growth starts long before you notice it.
You are changing, even when you feel stuck.
You are building a new life, even when it looks like nothing is happening.
One day you will look back with so much tenderness for the version of you who kept trying when everything felt impossible.

And you will realize she was never the problem.
She was the beginning of your healing.

❤️ Christina
