30 Days of Gratitude

There are parts of my story I never imagined I would share with anyone, let alone on a podcast, in a media interview, or on a stage.
The shame.
The fear.
All the ways my gambling harm broke me and hurt others.
For a long time, I believed those broken pieces made me unworthy of anything good. I thought silence was safer. I thought hiding made me stronger. I thought speaking the truth out loud would somehow confirm that I was the worst version of myself.
But the wild thing about sharing lived experience through any trial life brings is that the same moments that undo you can become the moments that keep someone else from breaking.
There is something deeply human about sitting with another woman who has felt what you felt, thought what you thought, carried what you carried, and realizing you were never as alone as you once believed.
And every time I use my voice, every time I speak the parts of my story I once kept buried, I feel a mix of fear, relief, and gratitude.
Gratitude that my story can offer someone else hope.
Gratitude that my honesty creates space for another woman’s courage.
Gratitude that what once almost destroyed me now serves a purpose.
I never expected my voice to matter.
But it does.
And for that, I am truly grateful.
