30 Days of Gratitude

We all have those days when recovery feels big and obvious. You wake up with a little more peace, or you handle something that would have wrecked you before. You think, “Look at me, actually kind of adulting today.”
And other days?
Well… you still worry.
You still get overwhelmed by the chaos addiction left in its wake.
You still rehearse your boundaries in your head like you are preparing for a courtroom trial.
You pace around the house whispering to yourself_, “The word no is okay to say. The word no is not rude. The word ‘no’ will not cause the world to burst into flames spontaneously.”_
And you still check your banking app three times before checkout because old financial fear lives deep in your bones.
Just me? Cool, cool.
Those are the days when recovery feels quiet. Slow. Invisible. The days where it seems like nothing is changing at all and you wonder if you are doing this whole healing thing wrong.
But here is where the gratitude sneaks in.
Because the truth is, you are growing even when you cannot see it.
Healing rarely announces itself.
It does not show up with a banner or a parade.
It happens in the small shifts, the tiny choices, the moments where you pause instead of spiraling.
It happens when you choose honesty even though it makes your throat tight.
When you tell someone how you actually feel instead of saying “I’m fine, it’s fine, everything is fine.”
When you choose not to gamble, even for a minute, even when the urge is buzzing in your chest.
When you respond differently to something that used to ruin your whole day.
Those moments count. They matter more than the dramatic breakthroughs we always imagine recovery will be filled with.
Roots grow long before anything blooms.
You are doing the same.
You are growing deeper.
Stronger.
Wiser.
More grounded than you realize.
So today, I am grateful for the growth we cannot see.
For the healing that takes its time.
Keep going.
Keep building.
Keep choosing yourself in small ways.
Before long, you will be living a life you do not want to escape from.
❤️Christina
