30 Day of Gratitude

Sometimes healing comes from sitting with the feelings you once ran from.
And sometimes it comes from opening a cold Dr. Pepper and saying,
Thank you for another chance to show up today.
There was a time when mornings were heavy.
Racing thoughts.
Racing heart.
Afraid of myself and the life I was losing piece by piece.
Then recovery arrived like a breath I did not know I had been holding.
It gave me second chances.
Real ones.
The kind that let you rebuild who you are and the life you live in.
I do not gamble anymore.
I do not run from myself.
I do not wake up drowning in shame or secrecy.
Today I wake up present.
Grateful.
Living a life I do not want to escape from.
That is the gift of recovery.
It did not just give me another chance.
It gave me myself.
And then, somewhere along the way, perimenopause wandered in
not as a crisis, just a new chapter with quirks of its own.
A little joint stiffness.
A little brain fog.
A lot of humor and humility.
I stretch more.
I breathe deeper.
I laugh at myself often.
And I am grateful I am here for all of it.
Because I lived a chapter where I almost was not.
That is why second chances feel sacred.
Why small joys land so big.
Why a quiet morning, a body that keeps going, and a clear mind feel like miracles.
So here is my gratitude today.
For the grace that saved my life.
For recovery that brought me home to myself.
For second chances I once believed I did not deserve.
For women who rise again and again.
For perimenopause doing her best, even if she is a little dramatic.
And yes, for a cold Dr. Pepper cheering me on like a fizzy friend who believes in me before the caffeine kicks in.
One sip
One stretch
One beautiful autumn morning at a time
